Day 1 – Salt Lake City – Yellowstone (10/5 Thu)
This morning meet your tour director and depart the Wasatch Mountains driving north past the Great Salt Lake, Hill Air Force Base, and Utah’s first settlement, Ogden. Soon we will enter Idaho and travel through the potato-producing fields of the Gem State with a stop for lunch in Idaho Falls. Continue north to the Island Park Region which is world-famous for its outstanding trout fishing on the Henry’s Fork River. After going over Targhee Pass, enter Montana for a rest stop in West Yellowstone. Then enter Yellowstone National Park for sightseeing. The world’s first national park is a wonderland of natural beauty and geologic oddities that has delighted visitors over 100 years. It is a mysterious land of steaming geysers, fumaroles and bubbling mud pots. A land so amazing that the first explorers to bring back tales of Yellowstone were called liars. Today you will visit the centerpiece of the park, Old Faithful! There will be plenty of time to explore the area, witness an eruption of the world’s most famous geyser and have dinner on your own. After enjoying Old Faithful, travel along the beautiful Madison River as you return to West Yellowstone and check in for overnight. (Yellowstone Lodge, West Yellowstone, MT) (Lunch included this day)
Day 2 – Yellowstone – Grand Teton (10/6 Fri)
Depart West Yellowstone and return to Yellowstone National Park for another great day of sightseeing. First visit the awe-inspiring “Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone,” with a chance to see both Upper and Lower falls, where the mighty Yellowstone River has cut its way through sheer rock to cascade down hundreds of feet to the foaming torrents below. Next, drive through scenic Hayden Valley, famous for large herds of buffalo and other wildlife. Travel the shores of Yellowstone Lake as you travel south with a stop for lunch on own along the way. In the afternoon, exit Yellowstone via the South Gate and enter Grand Teton National Park for sightseeing. Enjoy picture perfect views of Jackson Lake and the Tetons from scenic points such as Oxbow Bend, the Snake River Overlook and more. After an amazing day in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, arrive in the fun western town of Jackson with the rest of the evening free to explore and have dinner on your own. This old cowboy town is now home to hundreds of art galleries, shops, attractions and restaurants but still maintains an old west charm. (49er Inn & Suites, Jackson, WY) (Breakfast included this day)
Day 3 – Jackson – Salt Lake City (10/7 Sat)
Travel in three states today, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah, on your way to Salt Lake City. Drive through rugged Snake River Canyon, then pass through the pastoral Star Valley, which is a fertile farming valley that stretches across the Idaho border. Stop for a view of Bear Lake along the way and for an included lunch. Travel through beautiful Logan Canyon and then along the shore of the Great Salt Lake on your way to Salt Lake City. Arrive at your hotel in the early evening with the rest of the day free to explore on your own. (Doubletree Airport, Salt Lake City, UT) (Breakfast & Lunch included this day)
Day 4 – Salt Lake City (10/8 Sun)
After breakfast, transfer to the Salt Lake Airport by hotel shuttle. If possible, we suggest you book a 12:00pm or later flight so you can experience the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during their weekly Sunday Morning Broadcast. (Breakfast included this day)
